Wash Lands New Owner
As a kid Jesse Andrade Jr saw his father, Jesse Andrade Sr become a charter member of the Pacific Coast League which was founded in 1903. Growing up at Recreation Park where the San Frandcisco Seals played their home games in the early 1900's, were good memories for Jesse Andrade Jr.
The Seals won their first PCL pennant in 1909. Andrade Sr would go on to win pennents in 1915 and 1917. Shortly after 1917 season Andrade Sr became ill and son Jesse Andrade JR took over operations of the club. The seals would struggle for the next 5 years under the control of Andrade Jr. But he promised the city of San Francisco the Seals would be PCL champions again, one day.

Bucs get new commander for '23 Season

The Pittsburgh Pirates baseball club announced late yesterday that the team had been sold. The new owner, famed liquor maven John LeBlanc, purchased the team that had been left in limbo by the abrupt departure of prior ownership after just one season of professional baseball.
When the Hardball Heroes league had contemplated dropping the beleaguered franchise, LeBlanc, the former owner of the LA Angels of the PCL stepped up to the plate. The AL is shaping up to be another dogfight for the AL title as 3 of the top 4 teams in the HH Rankings, come from the AL. Cleveland, who won the HH World Series last season is atop the list, with some stellar pitching from SP Wilbur Cooper. The New York Yankees come in at #3 with an offense that ranks #2 in the AL in OBP and 2nd in the AL in ERA. The St. Louis Browns have vaulted to #4 with some Ruthian offense. Burrus Picks Up Best AL Batter Honors for May
Thursday, June 1st, 1922: When Dick Burrus stepped up to the plate in May, he did it with confidence and today he was honored with the American League Batter of the Month award.
The young Detroit first baseman posted a .405 batting average with 1 home run, 24 RBIs and scored 30 runs. Burrus also worked pitchers for 15 walks to post a .462 on-base percentage.

NL's Premier Batter Picked for May
Thursday, June 1st, 1922: Heinie Manush has a lot going for him. The Philadelphia left fielder just broke into the majors this year and now the National League has just picked him as its top hitter for May.
In 29 games last month, this outstanding rookie batted .439 with 5 home runs, 26 RBIs and 30 runs scored.

Browns make coaching change
In a stunning move, St Louis' American League club has replaced its manager.
It seems former manager Matthew Mays, suffering from burnout, stepped down as the head man at the club. Acting swiftly, St Louis has hired Sacramento Solons' manager, Pete Grassi to fill the position. Grassi comes in at a critical time as free agency is underway and it will be up to him to make big decisions quickly.
